More than 56,000 visitors attend Decorex Joburg home improvement expo

Fans of inspired design turned out in record numbers for design showcase 100% Design South Africa and its co-located home improvement expo Decorex Joburg 2015 this month.

More than 56,000 visitors converged on the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on 6-10 August.

“Johannesburg and its surrounds has a remarkable pool of design talent and we were privileged to showcase some of its leading lights – both established names and exciting emerging talents to watch – at Decorex Joburg 2015,” said Sian Gutstadt, portfolio director of Decorex SA and 100% Design South Africa.

Organiser Thebe Reed Exhibitions revamped the layout of Decorex Joburg’s exhibition halls for the 2015 edition themed ‘Home of Great Ideas’.

The showcase of more than 800 brands and designers also offered a new trade programme, which introduced an exclusive show preview for industry and media visitors complemented by a targeted matchmaking programme.

“The size and influence of Africa’s leading décor, design and lifestyle exhibition is certainly growing every year,” Gutstadt said.

New to this year’s exhibition was a CPD-accredited conference Architecture + Interior Design Africa, which catered to interior design, architecture and building industry professionals.

Meanwhile, the second edition of 100% Design South Africa added to the excitement and was an opportunity to nurture new design talent, Gutstadt added.

The exhibition showcased the latest trends in high-end design from South Africa’s decorators and designers.
