DMG events expands coatings trade show portfolio

Organiser dmg events will launch two new trade shows in Kenya and Kazakhstan in 2016 to take advantage of the growing coatings industry in both countries.

The East African Coatings Congress will feature an exhibition and conference at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel on 8-9 June. The organiser said it would pitch the event to central African buyers and suppliers.

Dmg events claims Kenya is the region’s largest paint manufacturer and exporter of raw component materials.

Ian Faux, vice president coatings at dmg events, said: “Although our signature Middle East Coatings Show receives a very high audience from the Gulf and Indian subcontinent, it has minimal audience from Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa.

“There are many domestic suppliers in these regions who do not export but are more likely to attend a show hosted in Asia and Africa than one in the Gulf, due to travel time.”

Meanwhile, the Central Asian Coatings Show, Kazakhstan, will be staged on 9-10 November at Almaty Tower.

Kazakhstan is central Asia’s largest paint consumer, according to dmg events, and accounts for 45 per cent of the region’s coating market.

Faux said the event aimed to attract visitors from Eastern Europe and central Asia.

Meanwhile, Faux said the organiser would also re-launch its biennial Middle East Coatings Show in Egypt to establish a “stronghold in the region”.

“It will allow us not only to cater to the demands of the expanding Egyptian economy but also of the region that includes Syria and Libya with their possible economic recovery.

“We are upbeat that our new shows will offer critical insights into the coatings industry and at the same time extend our portfolio to cover the Middle East, Africa and East and South Asia,” concluded Faux.

The Middle East Coatings Show will be held on 7-8 October at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Center.
