Vietnam and Thailand combine MICE forces

VIETNAM - The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Department (Viettrade)  have  signed a memorandum of understanding in Ha Noi.

The aim of the MoU is to accelerate the development of the two countries’ MICE industries through strengthened cooperation, including  joint market surveys and information  exchange .

“The MoU is the latest pledge between the two countries and it is hoped that it will help the progress of the economic integration of Southeast Asian countries through the MICE industry,” said Ta Hoang Linh, deputy head of Viettrade.

Thailand saw Vietnamese visitor numbers rise to 362,000 in 2009, up from 338,300 in 2008. Visitors participating in exhibitions made up 13 per cent of the total figure.

The Ministry of Commerce of Thailand expects bilateral trade turnover with Vietnam to reach US$10bn this year, an increase of almost $4bn on 2009.
