New name for Reed Exhibitions Asia Luxury Travel Market

CHINA - On the back of what Reed Exhibitions says was a “successful show”, it has taken the decision to rename its Asia Luxury Travel Market (ALTM) from 2011 onwards as International Luxury Travel Market Asia (ILTM Asia).

Taking place from 13-16 June 2011 in Shanghai, the ‘by invitation only’ event will join Reed’s Cannes-based ILTM, which in December 2009 attracted over 3,600 exhibitors.

ALTM 2010’s format included one hosted buyer to every exhibitor, meaning it attracted 330 of each, who completed 16,000 business appointments during the event. More than 20 per cent of the exhibitors were new and a similar number of buyers were qualified to participate, says the organiser.

“The results of this year’s ALTM proves that the Asia Pacific region is expanding rapidly, driven by strong economic growth in China and already established markets such as Japan,” says event director, Debbie Joslin. “The record number of press briefings by our exhibitors also indicated that many operators had expanded their portfolios to match the trend of having more personalised and unique experiences.”

This year’s ALTM included a new Ultratravel Forum, which was headlined by a panel of industry figures including BrandStory, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and American Express International.
