China – UK-based catering company Global Infusion Group (GIG) has launched its first office in the Far East.
The group consists of Eat To The Beat, Upbeat Event Catering and Design and E2B Logistics, all based in Europe, Global Infusion Group in America and Dunes Catering in the Middle East. As part of its Chinese expansion, GIG Shanghai will operate a restaurant, conference centre and outside catering facility in the Pudong area of Shanghai.
The new office says it is already in discussions with several pavilions at international trade fair, Expo 2010, to provide its event catering.
“I have been visiting Shanghai for a number of years looking at the opportunities,” says GIG MD Tony Laurenson. “With Expo 2010 taking place next year we will be perfectly positioned, just minutes from the exhibition site, to assist with outside catering needs of the Pavilions and sponsor companies.”
GIG Shanghai GM, Felix Zafra, says: “I have been working in Beijing for the past four years and have watched the rise of the Shanghai events and catering scene. I am so excited that I will now be able to enter this market.”
