Poland - IDEX Exhibitions is taking its fashion exhibition overseas with the launch of the event in Poland.
Established in London for nine years, the Off-Price Show offers end-of-season and stock fashion ranges to the retail trade. The Polish launch is the first stage of the company’s planned overseas expansion, which will include Spain and the Middle East.
Owner of IDEX Exhibitions, Buzz Carter, says the company is taking advantage of growth markets at a time when the UK sector is depressed. “Spain has a strong domestic market and we feel the concept will work very well there. And the Middle East has a huge convergence of buyers and sellers in the low-priced fashion market.”
The Polish show, which was held at the Torwar Sports Arena, Warsaw, attracted buyers from 24 countries. Carter says that over 50 per cent of floor plan has already been sold for next year’s outing and he is currently looking for a larger venue to host the event. His expansion plans will see the launch of the show in Spain at the end of 2010 or in spring 2011, followed by the Middle East in 2012.
Meanwhile, the company is considering further opportunities including expanding into the budget homeware market, which Carter says is a “natural extension to the off-price fashion sector”.
